THE EMPTY BOWLS EVENT
AUGUST 22, 2026; 11:30 TO 2PM (doors open at 11am for ticket pick-up and sales)
JULIAN CARROLL CONVENTION CENTER IN PADUCAH, KY
Empty Bowls is our annual event to raise money (since our inception, we have raised over $200,000) for our charity of choice: The Community Kitchen! Our Empty Bowls Event is in good company with other Empty Bowls Events that happen worldwide. Our missions are all the same (to end world food insecurity) and our events are all very similar. At our EB Event we have handmade bowls made and donated by local clay folk (we'll talk about our Throw-A-Thons down below...you want to know about those..) and food donated by local restaurants*. Patrons (that's you!) purchase tickets and on the day of the EB Event you get to pick out a hand made bowl, walk around the room & have some food put into our bowl, and sit with your friends to enjoy a delicious lunch. We're starting something new!!! Food drive for PCM!!!
Here at the Empty Bowls Project of Paducah World Headquarters we have been talking a lot about our community and the increasing needs of our local organizations that deal with food insecurity. So....we are going to make all of our Throw-A-Thons and Glaze-A-Thons into an opportunity for people to participate in a 'Food Drive' for Paducah Cooperative Ministry. Our once-a-year Empty Bowls Event is still a fundraiser for Community Kitchen and our community ...Thons will be a Food Drive for PCM.
We're all pretty excited to be of service to both organizations and we hope that you'll come by to either a Throw-A-Thon or a Glaze-A-Thon to help make bowls and to donate from the list below. Please be aware that we will not be accepting any monetary donations at any of our ...Thons...just items from the list below.

- Cereal
- Oats, grits, fruit & nut bars, etc.
- Juice
- Crackers
- Peanut butter
- Meal-in-a-can (ravioli, stew, chili)
- Spaghetti
- Spaghetti sauce
- Instant potatoes

- Individual serving food items (transient bags)
- Beverages (tea bags, instant coffee, hot cocoa mix)

Community Throw-A-Thons
Like the name says...this one is for community involvement! No experience necessary, just arrive with a willingness to participate. This event is not suitable for children under the age of 12 (there's too much hustle & bustle and heavy duty equipment for us to accommodate our youngers). We'll be making bowls for the Empty Bowls Event!

Community Glaze-A-Thon
Again...this one is for community involvement! No experience necessary, just arrive with a willingness to participate. This event is not suitable for children under the age of 12 (there's too much hustle & bustle and heavy duty equipment for us to accommodate our youngers). We'll be glazing bowls for the Empty Bowls Event!

Potters Throw-A-Thon
This event is by invitation only and for professional and/or very experienced potters. If you would like to be invited then please reach out to Michael or Victoria Terra at Terra Cottage Studios (270-908-0090..landline) to see if you qualify and if there is a wheel available.
